Sanlorenzo has stepped up to the even-bigger leagues with the introduction of their new flagship, the 44-meter steel, tri-deck, displacement megayacht. The 44 Steel, as this new line is known, features what is essentially a lower-level maintenance tunnel. Referred to by the company as “the under lower deck,” this area consists of a tunnel that runs from the bow to the stern, large enough to walk through standing up, which houses a service station (with three washing-machines and three driers), access to the stabilizers, bow thrusters, and other technical areas, and additional access to the engine room. The 44 Steel will have two Cat 3512B engines, generating 2,040-horsepower at 1,600 rpm and giving the vessel a company estimated 17-knot top speed. Running at 12-knots, Sanlorenzo says the vessel will have a 4,000 nautical mile cruising range. www.sanlorenzoyacht.com

Kadey-Krogen Yachts adds a new model to their line of full displacement trawlers with the Krogen 52. The Krogen 52 is a good fit for cruisers looking for a yacht a touch larger than the 48, but not quite as large as the 58, and still with the comfort, livability, and seaworthiness of the Kadey-Krogen line. The 52 will be offered with several options, including a twin- or three-cabin layout and will come with a single John Deere 6068AFM75 engine pumping 231-horsepower, or twin John Deere 4045TFM75s pumping out 121-horsepower each. Both options give a company-estimated 9.5-knot top speed and 8-knot cruise speed (while at half load) and, at 7 knots, the vessel has a company-estimated range of 3,000 nautical miles. The final stages of design are being completed now, and the first hull is due to arrive in the United States during the summer of 2011. www.kadeykrogen.com

Norwegian boatbuilder Windy Boats has teamed up with Ed Dubois (who joined Yachting readers, Yachting staff, and a good deal of Glenlivet at the New York Yacht Club for an event in February-pictures available on our Facebook page) to build a sleek and futuristic 16-meter “Super Tender.” The T52 sports triple 435-horepower Volvo Penta IPS 600 diesel engines, and boasts a company predicted cruising speed of 40 knots. The T52 features a sunpad and hydraulic boarding ladder aft, and the wraparound teak decks offer plenty of space for lounging in the sun. Should the weather turn foul there are three seats in the shade of the bimini top, and shelter can also be found belowdeck, where there’s a head and double berth. www.windy.no
