CLEARWATER, Fla. – July 6, 2011 – MarineMax Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of a new sales office on historic Bowen’s Wharf in the heart of Newport, RI. The office will represent Azimut-Benetti and will serve as the home port of Azimut’s exciting new Magellano line of long-distance cruising yachts. The grand opening will take place at 1 pm on July 16, 2011, during the 11th annual Azimut/Marinemax Gala, where more than 30 Azimut yachts are expected to gather.
“We’re very pleased to have this new office in Newport for the US introduction of the Magellano 50 at the upcoming Newport International Boat Show. The 50 is the second in a range of specialty Azimut yachts designed to navigate in all weather conditions,” said Andrew Schneider, US Brand Manager for Azimut Yachts at MarineMax. Azimut says the Magellano is “designed for those who are not obsessed with the speed of the journey, but the true pleasure of being on the water and enjoying every mile travelled in relaxed navigation.”

The new office will also represent Meridian Yachts, a Brunswick Corporation line. In addition, it will specialize in the brokerage of quality used boats and yachts, and will offer pre-owned models of the well-known MarineMax lines such as Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, Cabo and Hatteras. The company claims that a client listing his boat or yacht in Newport will immediately have exposure at all 57 MarineMax locations in addition to the internet.
MarineMax Senior Sales Consultant Frank Brennan, a long-time Newport area boater, will head up the Newport office. “I’m very excited to be transferring from the New York metro area back to Newport,” said Brennan. “We kept our personal boat there for several years and always made it a MarineMax destination. Newport is the yachting capital of the Northeast, and Bowen’s Wharf has been the center of commerce in Newport since 1760.”
