Argo, a 2017 Pershing 70, offers the performance of an Italian sports car on water. It has a two-stateroom layout plus crew quarters, and is powered by twin 1,623 hp MTU diesel engines (500 hours) that help produce a top speed of 46 knots. Currently listed by Allied Marine for $1.999 million, Argo is designed for those seeking a high-performance yacht with luxe amenities.

According to Yachting, “Pershings are built for drivers. These boats handle like vessels half their size. The 7X’s modified deep-V hull form has 17 degrees of deadrise aft. The Naviop-Simrad integrated bridge is manned by a pair of pilot seats. When the captain is ready for a break, the optional Xenta joystick control system can take over, useful in both close-quarters and cruising modes.”

Argo is powered by twin MTU 10V2000 M94 diesel engines. The acceleration is smooth and immediate, with minimal vibration. At a 42-knot cruising speed, Argo is stable and responsive, providing a confidence-inspiring ride.

“This particular 70 has been highly customized by an experienced yachting couple,” Allied Marine stated. “It is the only two-stateroom model available in North America. The third stateroom has been converted into a lower lounge, offering extra privacy and comfort for dining or relaxing while watching your favorite shows on the large 4K TV.”

The cockpit layout has a sun pad aft that provides an ideal spot for lounging, while an alfresco dining area with a bench-style settee, four chairs and two folding tables is forward, partially shaded. There are plush cushions, carbon fiber accents and stainless steel, all creating an elegant vibe. The cockpit wet bar offers a convenient spot for drinks during social gatherings. For those wanting some quiet time, the foredeck has sun pads with adjustable backrests.

Argo’s salon is bright with natural light entering via sizable side windows and a sunroof. Guests can relax at the U-shaped dinette or an L-shaped settee near the starboard-side helm station. Opening the salon’s sliding-glass door, rear window and retractable roof creates an open-air environment. The interior décor has light oak cabinetry, leather paneling and brushed-aluminum finishes, creating a modern aesthetic.

A solid-surface countertop provides meal-prep space, and thoughtful stowage solutions make use of every cubic inch. The area’s muted color palette and LED lighting create a contemporary feel. There is a small lounging area forward of the galley, making it a perfect for a morning coffee.
