West Marine Deck Out Dad Contest
Father’s Day is about a month away, and what better way to celebrate your dad than by posting a photo of everything that’s wrong with his boating gear on the Internet?
We’re not kidding. West Marine is running a “Deck Out Dad!” contest in which entry photos are posted on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with the hashtags #westmarine and #deckoutdad. The captions must include information about why your particular dad so desperately needs the $500 gift card.
“Maybe dad will spend it on foul weather gear that doesn’t leak,” West Marine announced in a news release. “Or perhaps he could use new casual attire for a lunch by the beach. It could be used for new fishing equipment for the family or personal flotation devices that don’t look like they survived World War II. Whether the dad in your life is incredibly makeover-worthy or just a bit of a tightwad, we want to hear why he deserves to win new gear from West Marine.”
The contest runs through June 15. Judges will give preference to photos taken on or near the water, or of course in a West Marine store. The photos can be funny or sentimental.
