As Nautor Swan celebrates its 60th anniversary, the Finnish builder is launching the new Swan 73, a sailing yacht intended to blend offshore performance with modern cruising comfort.
The vessel is designed by longtime Swan collaborator Germán Frers, with exterior styling from Luca Ardizio Design and interiors by Milan-based Blend Studio. Construction is already underway at the builder’s Boatbuilding Technology Centre in Pietarsaari, Finland, with the first hull expected to launch in 2027.
Positioned just below the maxi-yacht range, the Swan 73 is intended to offer much of the comfort and volume associated with larger yachts while remaining manageable for owner-operators and short-handed crews. The yacht’s hull is built using vinylester-infused fiberglass and localized carbon-fiber reinforcement intended to improve stiffness and performance.
The Swan 73 carries a slim, contemporary profile with twin helms, a broad stern and a clean deck layout optimized for easy movement under sail. An offset companionway and asymmetrical cockpit arrangement are among the yacht’s defining features, helping separate guest lounging areas from sailhandling spaces.
According to the builder, the yacht is capable of speeds exceeding 20 knots under sail.
The cockpit and deck are divided into multiple social zones, including a foredeck sun lounge that can be shaded with an optional Arabian-style canopy. The aft section can also accommodate a sizable tender while maintaining usable guest space on deck.
Belowdecks, owners can choose three- or four-stateroom layouts. The design includes a dedicated crew area and aft galley arrangement, while the forward owner’s suite can be configured with either a larger head or a walk-in wardrobe. Large hull windows and overhead glazing are intended to bring more natural light into the living spaces.
The Swan 73 also reflects the broader direction of Nautor Swan under Sanlorenzo ownership, with the builder emphasizing a design philosophy that evolves the brand’s traditional styling rather than redefining it outright.
