It doesn’t matter how big a yacht is. Whether it’s 80 or 180 feet length overall, owners and charter guests almost always talk about how they would love to have more space for their families to spread out and relax.
The owner of Silver Fox was thinking the same thing when he commissioned the 74Steel flagship that Sanlorenzo delivered this year. According to the team at Edmiston, which is managing the yacht for charter, the owner has a big family with kids and staff that includes a nanny. His main priority with the yacht’s design was to ensure that everyone had places where they could feel comfortable, no matter whether they were gathering or enjoying moments of solitude.
To that end, Silver Fox accommodates 12 guests plus two staff in eight staterooms, with five of the ensuite staterooms located on the main deck: four convertibles and a full-beam VIP suite with its own living room that can be opened or closed—say, if some of the adult guests need a space for a baby’s crib. All of those accommodations are in addition to separate quarters for the yacht’s 21 crew, giving guests far better than a 1-to-1 service ratio for private and charter use alike. And just for the owner or primary charter guest, there’s an owners’ deck that spans 3,229 square feet with a lounge and office, a walk-in closet, and two spa-style bathrooms, one with a freestanding tub. The master’s king bed faces a secluded forward terrace with a hot tub, allowing not only for wide-ranging views of the sea, but also for total privacy from prying eyes.
These are the kinds of features that experienced yacht owners learn to value, and the fact that this Sanlorenzo was built for an experienced owner is evident in other areas aboard Silver Fox as well. For instance, says Edmiston’s Julie Rozes Pomaret, “The owner was tired of having a chase boat cruising behind the big boat, so there are three tenders that fit into the boat. One is more than 10 meters, one is more than 7 meters and one is a beach lander.” There’s also a guest elevator to make it easier for everyone to get around, and the crew have an unusual setup in the yacht’s machinery space: a hydroponic area to grow vegetables, so that no matter where in the world Silver Fox is cruising, the chef and galley team will never be limited to whatever fresh choices are available ashore in the farmers’ markets.
The joy of cruising in comfort is also something that experienced yacht owners understand, which is why Silver Fox has six sizable batteries on board for anchoring and cruising in silence. It’s a rare setup for a motoryacht this size, according to the Edmiston team, and especially for a yacht of this caliber that’s available for charter.
Yet another sign of the owners’ experience is the sheer quantity of activities that are available for guests to enjoy aboard this yacht. There’s a wellness center with a gymnasium, massage area, hair salon, sauna, hammam and cold plunge pool. Guests watching movies in the outdoor cinema can request pizza from the professional oven that’s on board, or barbecue from the Big Green Egg. Or, guests can play pickleball, basketball or soccer beneath floodlights out on deck. And of course, guests who want to relax far aft have access to the fold-down terraces near the beach club.
Edmiston’s team says the Silver Fox crew has a great deal of charter experience. That’s yet another major selling point on any yacht, let alone a new flagship built in Italy, and is another reason why Silver Fox was already being booked for all the prime summer weeks long before summertime even began. As Rozes Pomaret put it, “She’s going to be very popular this summer.” Inquiries are also being accepted for winter charters in the Caribbean, where the lowest advertised weekly base rate is $900,000 for the 1,800-gross-ton yacht. The high-season weeks this winter have a listed base rate of $1 million.
The early success that Silver Fox is seeing with charter inquiries is in part a testament to how far Sanlorenzo has come since it launched the shipyard’s first steel-hull yacht in 2010. The inaugural model was a 46Steel that, itself, evolved what the yard’s designers and craftsmen had learned during a quarter century of building yachts in other materials. Sanlorenzo has since evolved its offerings in all kinds of ways over the years, helping to lead trends in technology, propulsion and styling, all while satisfying what can often be clients with substantial customization ideas. It’s not just a marketing line when Edmiston describes Silver Fox as a steel and aluminium build “that brings together scale, serenity and strength in a way that feels both considered and quietly powerful.” Achieving that kind of outcome takes decades of experience. This 74Steel exemplifies the journey that the Sanlorenzo yard has been on, and demonstrates capabilities that suggest a lot more to come in the future.
It’s also important to note all the experience that Edmiston brought to the creation of this yacht, too. Edmiston’s team was involved from the inception of Silver Fox, from the first sketches and the shipyard selection process through working as the owner’s representative during the yacht’s construction and delivery, and now managing the vessel for charter. “Silver Fox is a landmark yacht for Sanlorenzo,” says Jamie Edmiston, chief executive of Edmiston. “It combines scale and sophistication in a way few yachts can. We are proud to be offering her exclusively for charter.”
There’s so much more that could be said about the kind of experience guests can have aboard this flagship superyacht from the Sanlorenzo shipyard. A quick glance at the list of tenders and toys at right provides an idea of how all kinds of time might be spent on sun-filled afternoons in harbors with warm water and scenic views. And that’s before returning to the boat for cocktail hour, a gourmet dinner and, perhaps, movies under the stars.
Let the making of spectacular family memories begin.
Interiors
Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini created the interiors on Silver Fox. Their goal was to blend sculptural elegance with organic warmth. Look for soft geometry, flowing curves and custom rugs that define each space. Matte woods and eclectic materials add texture and a bespoke ambience.
Guest Spaces
On the main deck, the salon combines a lounge and cinema with a separate dining zone, divided by a bar unit. Together, these areas span 1,400 square feet. Sliding glass doors are on both sides, opening the space to sea views and fresh breezes. Aft is a glass-bottom pool with fabulous views.
Playtime
Silver Fox carries a notable array of tenders and toys, including a Pascoe limousine tender, a Pascoe beach lander RIB and a Ski Nautique boat for watersports. Seabobs, Sea-Doos, Fliteboards, inflatable kayaks, standup paddleboards and an RYA scuba-diving center are also part of the package.
