What’s that Boat Show in France?

It used to be the Festival de la Plaisance. Now it’s the Cannes Yachting Festival.

The Festival de la Plaisance in France — which, for years, Americans have called the Cannes boat show — is officially changing its name. When it takes place later this year in its 37th edition, it will be called the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Owners and organizers hope the name change will “express the increasingly international positioning of the festival, a major gathering bringing together yacht lovers and industry professionals,” according to a press release.

The Cannes Yachting Festival will be held Sept. 9-14. Some 550 yachts and 50,000 visitors are expected to attend.
