Maritimo's founder has done this before.

Industry veteran Bill Barry-Cotter, Maritimo’s CEO and founder, has been around the proverbial dock. In fact, he has more than 40 years in the business, starting out at age 19 when he built his first boat. Barry-Cotter, also the founder of Riviera Yachts and a Class 1 offshore boat-racing enthusiast, has logged enough nautical miles in his many wakes to circumnavigate his island-continent home of Australia several times over.

But even after selling the Riviera Group to a private equity firm in 2002, he was not finished leaving his mark on the industry and lifestyle for which he had so much passion.

As the story goes, he persuaded Martin Lewis, veteran of Mustang, former managing director of Black Watch, and former Riviera production manager, to come out of retirement. And when something like that happens with someone like Barry-Cotter, the only thing that can come about is the start of a new boat company.

Maritimo opened for business in 2003 and the Cabriolet line is just starting to grow. Eight models are predicted-including four sport cruisers and four flying bridge models, the latter dubbed the Aegean line.
