Sailor Reportedly Missing for 66 Days Rescued

Coast Guard rescues man 200 miles off North Carolina coast.

Louis Jordan, 37, who had been reported missing for two months, was rescued by the Coast Guard Thursday off the coast of North Carolina.

The Coast Guard ‘medevaced’ a man who was located on a disabled sailing vessel Thursday nearly 200 miles off the North Carolina coast. The Coast Guard in Portsmouth received notification from the 1,085-foot, German Houston Express at approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday that they spotted a man and the vessel 200 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and took him aboard.

The man, 37-year-old Louis Jordan and the sailing vessel Angel, were initially reported missing by his family to the Coast Guard Jan. 29.

The Coast Guard has no comments at this time regarding whether or not it believes the entirety of Jordan’s story.

“Nothing has lead us to believe otherwise,” a Coast Guard Spokesperson said. “The most important thing to us is that he was found and rescued and brought back to his family.”
