The solar-powered MS Tûranor PlanetSolar plans to drop anchor from December 2-5 in Mumbai, India. The 115-foot catamaran left Monaco on September 27, and has since visited Miami, Cancun, Bora Bora, Manilla, Hong Kong, Singapore, Phuket and Colombo. According to the press release, the crew plans to “meet the media and the local authorities and share their vision of a world where ecology and economy have to work in synergy to contribute to the development of clean energies whilst carrying a promising new economy.”
From Mumbai, the planned route for the MS Tûranor PlanetSolar is along the Arabian Peninsula, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean.
According to PlanetSolar, the catamaran was built in Kiel, Germany, and is covered with photovoltaic cells.
