By Peter A. Janssen For most of us, the Miami International Boat Show is the highlight of the season, but this year, as we celebrated both YACHTING’s and Motor Boating‘s 100th anniversaries, it was even more special. The show, spread over three venues—the Miami Beach Convention Center, the Sea Isle Marina at the Marriott on Biscayne Bay, and the yacht show up on Collins Avenue—was packed; it seems to get bigger and better every year. You’ll see many of the boats, engines, electronics and accessories that were introduced at the show in our pages over the coming months. But on the opening night, we took some time off from the show to celebrate our 100 years on the water with our friends at a fun-filled evening at the Eden Roc Hotel on Miami Beach. Here’s a look at some of the people who’ve made our 100 years (at least the most recent ones) so special, and who’ve contributed so much to yachting, both in the U.S. and around the world. In future issues, we’ll cover the best boats, best designs and most important personalities in yachting over the past century. But we know that we have already celebrated with many of our best friends in Miami. www.100yearsonthewater.com 1. The festive party scene.Pamela Jones
