It’s time to get out the party hats and strike up the band. On July 19, the Italian boatbuilder OTAM will celebrate its 60th birthday.

Founded in 1954, the company started as a yacht storage yard and fast became authorized to service Riva yachts. Its first models were the OTAM 36 and OTAM 38, and during the 1970s, the yard produced 15 triple-planked wooden yachts — many of which still cruise today.

In the 1980s, OTAM began working with Magnum Marine in the United States and did fit-out on more than two dozen yachts for the Mediterranean market.

During the 1990s, OTAM launched its 45 and 55 models and has built more than 70 yachts since. Most recently, the builder introduced its Millennium range, which includes 50- and 58-foot open models along with a 65-foot hardtop and an 80-footer in both open and hardtop versions.

OTAM shows no signs of slowing down. Future plans call for a Millennium 100 along with some interesting megayacht tenders and chase boats.
