Take a ride on a container ship and celebrate with West Marine.

Container shipping company CMA CGM is now offering cruises aboard their flagship vessel, the 365-meter Christophe Colombe. The company saw 690 people sign on for passages during 2010, and expect that the new, larger vessel will draw increased interest. The Christophe Colombe has a range of facilities for passengers aboard for crossings, including a lounge with TV equipment, a library, a fitness room and a swimming pool. The passengers can interact with the ship’s crew during the day and take their meals at the captain’s table. So, if a Carnival Cruise isn’t in your wheelhouse, take a look at cruising aboard a container ship for a unique crossing experience. www.cma-cgm.com

West Marine will hold a grand-opening event at their flagship store in Woburn, Massachusetts, April 28 to May 1. The celebration will include an on-site boat show, electronics demonstrations and experts sharing tips and tricks for maximizing your boat’s performance. On the night of the 28th, from 6:00 – 9:00, there will be a “Cruise for a Cause” charity event. Tickets for the event are $10 and all proceeds go directly to support a number of charities, including: New England Disabled Sports, Piers Park Sailing Center, Courageous Sailing, The Fishing Academy, ALLY Foundation’s Flip Flop Regatta, Sandy Point Sailing, Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program and more. www.westmarine.com
