Raymarine ‘s Axiom Pro multifunction display uses the HybridTouch interface, allowing users to interact with the screen on calm days while having a keypad for snotty conditions. Axiom Pro MFDs ($2,299 to $5,999) are available in 9-, 12- and 16-inch models. They can be ordered with a chart plotter and 1 kW single-channel chirp sonar (Pro S series), or a chart plotter, 1 kW chirp sounder and Raymarine’s proprietary RealVision 3D sonar (Pro RVX series).

Doppler radar hit the recreational marine market in 2016, ushering in a new era of at-sea awareness. Garmin ‘s GMR Fantom 18 ($1,599) and GMR Fantom 24 ($2,799) expand the company’s Doppler radar line. Each Fantom has 40 watts of transmitting power and a range of 20 feet to 48 nautical miles. Proprietary features include ­Dynamic Auto Gain and Dynamic Sea ­Filter, which automatically adjust the radar’s ­settings based on real-world conditions.

Nautic Alert ‘s Insight X2 vessel-monitoring system (from $750) employs a three-tier defense starting with the yacht’s perimeter and progressing to its interior space before jumping out to include a user-defined geofence. Insight X2 systems use wired or wireless sensors with microwave and infrared technology to guard perimeter spaces; belowdecks-mounted wired and wireless motion detectors and wired contacts to secure interiors; and a GPS-enabled geofence.
