Check out what's new afloat.

The Newport Yacht and Launch Co. has stepped onto the scene with the debut of the Newport Runabout hull number one, christened Hair of the Dog. The Newport Runabout is a classically styled, open-cockpit motorboat that would make a great addition to a fleet or a brilliant tender to a larger yacht. The "turn-key" price is $320,000, and deliveries are available for 2010.

Keep your eyes out for the new Targa 58 Gran Turismo from Fairline. The salon on the Targa 58 is great for summer cruising. It features a retractable sunroof and the option of retractable windows and patio door to open the salon to warm summer breezes at the push of a button.

The Vision 74 from Horizon is the builder's first foray into the "Green" yachting world. The Vision 74 has four solar panels mounted on top of the sun lounge that the builder claims are capable of generating 180 watts, and a large skylight allows plenty of sun to enter the salon.

Magnum Marine has splashed a speed-demon with the Magnum 51, called "Bestia." She has twin Caterpillar or MTU diesels that are between 1600- and 1925-horsepower, coupled with Arneson surface drives, that the company claims will push all 51 feet of her to a top speed of 60 to 65 knots!
