IMS Shipyard, located in the bustling South of France yachting region, is expanding with expectations of becoming the largest refit and repair facility for superyachts in the Mediterranean.

The yard is converting a formal naval air base, which will add 80 berths and allow IMS to welcome 100 yachts between 65 and 262 feet LOA. Four boat sheds each will be able to house three superyachts up to 164 feet LOA, and overall the expanded site — to be called IMS 700 —will have a total surface area of about 1.4 million square feet.

IMS hopes to be able to start using at least parts of the new facility at the end of 2014. It’s also converting the naval base’s control tower into a VIP lounge to welcome clients with a view of the whole operation.
