The Insight Genesis personal and social mapping tool now supports the use of sonar recordings in High CHIRP mode, in addition to existing support for 200 kHz sounder logs — eliminating the need for users to switch sonar recording formats to generate custom maps.
Users also can share data publicly to the Insight Genesis Social Map, and can search data contributed by other users around the globe.
The upgrades were announced by GoFree, which provides digital content for Lowrance, Simrad and B&G marine electronics.
“With our enhanced Insight Genesis offering, we are breaking the cartography mold,” Leif Ottoson, CEO of Navico, stated in a press release. “We now offer free high-quality mapping for multifunction displays with unparalleled options for recording data and creating unmatched contour charts.”
