Horizon Yachts Launches 148

Horizon Yachts has just launched its 148, which is built for long-distance globetrotting and features a rugged ice-class hull.

In its largest build to date, Horizon Yachts has entered the superyacht scene with the new EP 148. With 10,600 gallons of fuel capacity and BV Ice Classifications, this explorer yacht is ready to take you to the ends of the Earth.

Here’s Horizon Polaris, the largest launch to emerge from Horizon as well as the largest Asian-built yacht to meet Bureau Veritas’ ice-class requirements. Just as noteworthy, Horizon Polaris is the first metal-hulled yacht from Horizon.

Horizon Polaris is the first of the shipyard’s new EP148 series. Measuring 148 feet, she stands four decks tall and is intended for world cruising. Horizon says she can cover more than 4,200 nautical miles at 9½ knots. Power comes from two 1,760-hp MTUs, and top speed should be 16 knots. A bulbous bow will aid seakeeping.

Both styling and naval architecture are from Espinosa, while Schnaase Interior Design is taking care of decor. Highlights include a main-deck master, outfitted with a private pantry (ideal for midnight snacks), plus two VIP staterooms. Two other guest cabins join the VIPs below decks. A sauna accompanies the skylounge, and the flying bridge caters to both sunning and cocktails, with sunpads, a hot tub, and a bar. The crew-to-guest ratio is 1:1, including the captain.
