Pershing 62
The Pershing 62 joins the builder’s line of 50- to 115-foot motoryachts, bringing with it ZF SeaRex drives that create sublime performance. Not that onlookers will notice; they’ll be too busy wondering how Pershing got the 62 to look so darn sexy.
We’re especially fond of the swim platform, which is about half the depth that you’d normally see on a Pershing. On the 62, the extra space is used for a tender garage that lifts up while a center section of the swim platform drops—creating your own personal slipway. Super nifty.
Also catching our eye was an ingenious salon door and window. First, the window retracts belowdecks, and then the sliding door is moved to the centerline. It also drops down, so you get unimpeded access to the open cockpit. Very cool.
We tested the Pershing 62 and loved the automatic trim system. She rose onto plane with so little fuss that we were downright surprised. At speed, she performed like a true deep-V, cutting through the 2- to 3-foot waves like a finely sharpened knife. Standard engines are a pair of 1,381-hp MTU Series 2000 diesels.
