Sabre Yachts is redesigning the interior on its 54 Salon Express, and the new version will be available in February.

The Maine-based boatbuilder wanted to create a more open, airy feeling throughout the yacht’s social areas. To that end, the 54 Salon Express will now have one small step between the cockpit and main salon, as well as double-acting stainless steel companionway doors that allow unobstructed views through the salon. In the 54’s cockpit, a SureShade retractable awning will be a standard feature.

In the performance department, the redesigned 54 will be one of the first production boats to be fitted with the Volvo IPS 950 propulsion system, according to Sabre. The builder expects to achieve a cruising speed in the high-20-knot range and a top speed of more than 30 knots.

And not to worry about the interior décor: Sabre plans to build the new version of the 54 using the same fine woodworking and joinery details for which the brand is known. Sabre uses sustainably harvested, domestically sourced American Cherry for all interior joinery.
