Frank Gary, 1941-2014

Frank Gary, a member of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association and past president of the Yacht Brokers Association of America, died of pancreatic cancer on September 19, 2014. He was 73 years old.

Bill Walczak of the Maryland-based Walczak Yacht Brokerage Service called Gary the “Cal Ripken of yacht brokers,” with unmatched drive and dedication to his profession. “He died with his spurs on,” Walczak wrote, acknowledging how Gary continued to represent buyers and sellers while battling cancer in the hospital.

Gary became a yacht salesman in 1988, working with Petrini Yacht Sales and establishing Bristol Yacht Sales before joining Annapolis, Maryland-based Walczak Yacht Brokerage Service in 2006. In addition to his service with FYBA and YBAA, he served on the Board of Marine Trades Association and helped to create the national standard exam for yacht broker certification.

He is survived by a wife, four children and one grandchild.
