Yachting will host the first annual Yachting Life Private Yacht Showcase, November 5-6, 2010, at the beautiful new Palm Harbor Marina in West Palm Beach, Florida. Five hundred Yachting readers will enjoy a yacht hop on Friday night followed by on-water demonstrations on Saturday. For those who enjoy a nice cold beer on a crisp fall day, then the second annual Fall Beer Tasting held at the Mystic Seaport shipyard in an event for you. Taking place this Saturday, October 16, from 5-7pm, the event will feature beers from a variety of local breweries such as Kona Brewery, Redhook Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery and the Shipyard Brewing Company. Tickets for the event are $30 ($25 for members) and are only available for those over the age of 21 (I.D. is required). Also going on during the event, Boston tavern historian Gavin R. Nathan, author of Historic Taverns of Boston: 370 Years of Tavern History in One Definitive Guide, will discuss the history of taverns and share interesting facts and drink recipes. The International SeaKeepers Society is hosting its annual SeaKeepers Professionals Soirée on October 23 at Grill 66 & Bar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Each year the SeaKeepers Soirée honors the captains and crew, as well as the industry leaders, who support the Society’s marine conservation programs. The 2010 SeaKeepers Soirée will highlight the accomplishments of the Professionals and the society’s future initiatives.
