When a builder revisits a successful model, the changes are usually subtle. A tweak here, a swap there, maybe a reshaped lounge or a sleeker helm.

But when Pardo Yachts set out to update the Pardo 43, with more than 330 hulls delivered since 2017, the shipyard rewrote the playbook of what a luxury performance dayboat could be.

The new version of the Pardo 43 incorporates some 84 changes, each stemming from extensive owner feedback. The result is a boat that feels familiar, yet better than ever. It looks like a Pardo, and it certainly runs like a Pardo, but it also functions like a more complete expression of the original concept. Pardo’s design language centers on a clean architectural profile with a distinctive reverse bow.

The builder lowered the sheerline on the brand’s signature aggressive profile, creating a sportier stance while maintaining those impressively sharp lines. The aft sunpad is larger, creating a broader lounging zone that blends with the cockpit. And the carbon fiber hardtop has grown by 30 percent, with the supports moved slightly outboard for a lighter, airier feel. Tinted skylight panels in the hardtop preserve natural light, which keeps the helm area from feeling boxed in. With 7½ feet of headroom beneath that hardtop, the entire space becomes an outdoor living room, equally comfortable underway or at anchor.

One of the biggest transformations is aft. The tender garage is now level with the hydraulic swim platform, which lowers roughly 3 feet below the surface. Launching or recovering a tender is essentially a straight-line operation. The garage also stows Seabobs, e-bikes, dive gear or any assortment of accessories.

Pardo also shifted the engine air vents outboard, a change that may seem minor, but one that creates a noticeably quieter ride while underway at speed. The refinements, combined with a sturdier aft door and a robust locking mechanism to eliminate rattling, are welcome. The side steps now latch magnetically too, another quieting measure.

At the helm, a three-quarter windscreen provides airflow and visibility, with a full windshield as an option for more protection. The Garmin glass cockpit has three 16-inch multifunction displays forward of the centerline helm. The boat’s digital switching system allows the skipper or passengers to control about 90 percent of onboard systems through a customizable screen. It’s a tidy, intuitive setup that matches the boat’s contemporary look.

Belowdecks is a warmer interior. There is a new lighting scheme, a larger head and increased natural light thanks to hull windows and a forward skylight. The second stateroom beneath the helm deck has cabinets pushed outboard, a setup that improves usable space. The décor is softer, the tones are gentler, and the fit and finish are top-notch.

Performance remains central to the 43’s identity. The boat I was invited aboard off Miami had twin 480 hp Volvo Penta IPS650s, the largest engine package (370 hp IPS500s are standard, with 440 hp IPS600s another option). The hull jumped on plane in seconds with virtually no bow rise, and there was no hesitation or turbo lag as the yacht accelerated powerfully through the midrange. A comfortable fast cruise is 30 knots at 3,280 rpm and 80 percent engine load, burning 36 gallons per hour. At wide-open throttle, top hop is 37 knots at 3,800 rpm, burning 51 gallons per hour.

The feeling underway is refined, with smooth transitions from idle to plane, no hull chatter in sharp turns and excellent visibility all around. Range at 30 knots is 257 nautical miles with a 10 percent reserve, more than enough for island-hopping in the Florida Keys or the Bahamas.

Dozens of thoughtful improvements have a cumulative impact on this yacht. A sharper profile. Easier gear deployment. More shade. Better lounging. Warmer interiors. These refinements speak to Pardo’s willingness to listen, and to the builder’s confidence in revisiting a successful model with fresh eyes.

Pardo didn’t just update the 43. The builder evolved it. And in doing so, Pardo crafted a boat that feels more complete and more capable than ever.

Italian Style Defined

Cantiere del Pardo was founded in 1973 in Forlì, Italy, and built its reputation with sailing yachts, most notably the Grand Soleil line. The company expanded into powerboats in 2016, bringing its heritage of clean Italian design to the performance cruiser market.

Behind the Build

Pardo Yachts are constructed using a vinylester resin infusion process with a synthetic core and carbon fiber at major stress points. The builder says this method produces a lighter, stiffer and more consistent hull which feels solid while underway in rough seas.

Design DNA

Pardo’s design language centers on a clean architectural profile. This geometry contributes to the vessel’s efficiency and smooth ride and also sets the visual tone for the line. Systems integration at the helm and thoughtful engineering throughout allow for sporty handling with weekending comfort aboard.
