Apparently, it’s not enough to be the world’s biggest superyacht. The owners of Azzam also wanted her to be the fastest. During her first set of sea trials in the North Sea, the 590-foot Lürssen reportedly hit 31.5 knots, which is believed to be the fastest speed ever recorded for a superyacht more than 300 feet long.

That got us to thinking about a few other numbers that make Azzam so jaw-dropping:

• _ 94,000._ That’s the total horsepower of two gas turbines and two diesel engines that drive Azzam‘s water jets.

• _ 32._ That’s the minimum speed, in knots, that Azzam is reportedly able to hit if she’s in water deeper than the 60-foot section where her first sea trials were performed.

30. That’s the percent that Azzam is faster than similarly sized yachts such as the 536-foot Blohm + Voss Eclipse, which tops out around 22 knots, and the 453-foot Lürssen Rising Sun, whose top speed is about 28 knots.

• _ 95._ That’s the length of Azzam‘s primary seating area —the main salon — when measured in feet.

600. That’s the cost, in millions of dollars, that her owners reportedly spent to build Azzam. They are believed to be members of the royal family from the United Arab Emirates.
