Under construction and scheduled to be launched in the spring of 2014, the Ferretti 960 is the company's first model to have five staterooms — four of equal size and amenities for guests belowdecks and the owner's suite forward on the main deck. Ferretti's design team — Studio Zuccon International Project, AYT Advanced Yacht Technology and Centro Stile Ferrettigroup — developed styling themes common to the company's 720 and 870. The bottom of this massive planing yacht was derived from that of the 881.
The builder's stylists employed a continuous belt of windows along the length of the main deck to reduce the perception of height. The break in the sheer line forward and the divot chopped out of the sheer amidships also "lighten" the look of the 960's profile. During the development stage, Ferretti decided to offer this model with only the raised pilothouse helm. The company stated that the configuration allowed the designers to make the most of the interior arrangement plan.
At the after section of the yacht, Ferretti incorporated an unobtrusive garage for stowing the tender and water toys. The center section of the swim platform lowers to provide easy access to the water and equally easy boarding. When the garage door is open, lowering the platform to its deepest floods part of the garage so that the tender smoothly slides into the water.
