Originally, Cowboy was built as a 65-footer. The current owner added a fishing cockpit that extended her to 74 feet LOA, and he has been using her worldwide in fishing tournaments ever since. She’s a steel-hull, 74-foot Cape Horn Trawler built in 2002, and her owner just dropped her asking price by more than 10 percent, from $1.7 million to $1,495,000. “She is built to go where the fish are taking the seas, whether kindly or not,” Kirtland says. I know this because on our test day the wind on the Mediterranean had freshened to a near gale, and with no shelter from the land we measured 30 knots of “breeze” on the anemometer. There was a short, steep sea with waves up to five feet. These were real-world testing conditions for any 50-footer.

Fleming 78: Quiet Times

Super sound attenuation just scratches the surface of what makes this bred-for-sea 78-footer beyond cool. Boat review from the July 2012 issue of Yachting.
