Columbus Sport M/Y K2 Completes Sea Trials

The 164-foot yacht achieved a top speed of 21.5 knots, according to the builder.

Columbus Yachts in Italy has completed sea trials on Hull No. 1 of its 164-foot Sport M/Y K2.

With a pair of 2,600-horsepower MTU engines, the yacht hit a top-end speed of 21.5 knots, with a cruising speed of 17 knots; at 10 knots, fuel consumption was about 18 gallons per hour, according to the shipyard.

The yacht has an aluminum hull and superstructure, a vertical bow and a gross tonnage of 499. Draft is a little over 7 feet, allowing for cruising in shallow-water regions such as the Bahamas.

Accommodations are for as many as 11 guests in five staterooms, and there are seven cabins for 11 crew.

Engineering on the design is by Columbus Yachts parent company Palumbo Superyachts, in collaboration with Hydro Tec. Exterior and interior design are by Luca Dini Design & Architecture.

This is the owner’s third project with Palumbo Superyachts.
