The Sabre Yachts 48 Salon Express has an ageless downeast aesthetic combined with modern and user-friendly pod drives and a standard, family-ready two-stateroom, two-head layout. The standard cherrywood interior is warm and inviting.

During our initial sea trial, the Sabre 48, powered with twin 550 hp Cummins diesels with Zeus pod drives, topped out at 34 knots and had a fast cruise speed of 30.2 knots.

At press time, 23 Sabre Yachts 48 Salon Expresses were on the market, ranging from $624,000 to $1,295,000.

“The proportions of the 48 work perfectly, in my opinion. The tumblehome of the transom flows seamlessly into a deck with moderate sheer, which benefits from a cabin-house design that is absent of any harsh 90-degree angles. The rake of the after portion of the house flows into the vertical strut of the upper deckhouse, which is accented by the engine-room vents that carry the same angle.”
