“The use of curved hardened safety glass in the corners of the pilothouse further enhances visibility and increases the sensory connection to the ocean and sky. In inclement weather, the pilothouse can be closed aft with removable canvas. In fine weather, guests can enjoy a ‘flying bench’, built integrally into the stainless steel wrap-around rail and stanchion system, where they can remain in contact with the helmsperson but also enjoy open views and sunshine.”

“Two steps down from the helm is a traditional aft cockpit, providing convenient space for … fishing, diving and line handling. A drop-down tailgate creates a handy swim and boarding platform.”

“At the foredeck are a stowage locker to starboard and a locker to port, housing the retractable anchor platform, windlass and wash-down spigot.”

“The floor space of the owner’s cabin is substantially increased via the sue of large-radius bulkheads with integral doors leading to a private head to port an enclosed shower to starboard. Four opening ports, plus a large overhead hatch, provide light and ventilation … The owner’s cabin does not share any bulkheads with other private or public spaces, thereby enhancing privacy.”

“Very high sound attenuation is achieved via aggressive engine-room insulation and seals, an underwater exhaust system and generous propeller-tip clearance. The engine room is accessed through either a deck hatch on the bridge deck, or through a door aft of the companionway steps.”

“The fuel tanks are located forward of the engine room beneath the raised salon, near the center of buoyancy, so that changes in weight between full and empty tanks will have minimal effect on vessel trim.”

“The PC48 FD is designed for composite sandwich construction, utilizing unidirectional E-glass and Kevlar fabrics and foam core with an infused epoxy or vinylester resin system. Interior bulkheads are furniture are made from balsa-cored panels.”
