Broker Pieter van der Weide at Hoek Brokerage is offering the steel hull built as the first phase in a replica construction of Ingomar, the classic America’s Cup yacht.

The hull was started in late 2011, and a buyer is needed to complete the replica construction.

Railway magnate Morton Plant commissioned the original Ingomar in 1903 from Nathanael Herreshoff. Until that time, Herreshoff’s racing yachts had all been single-mast designs. Ingomar was the first of nine racing schooners that the “Wizard of Bristol” went on to create. Ingomar won 17 trophies in a single racing season.

The replica’s specs: The hull is 176 feet long with a beam of about 24 feet and a draft of 16 feet, 7 inches.
