Moonen Yachts in the Netherlands has a signed letter of intent to build the first in a new series of motoryachts that will range from 59 to 78 feet long.

The series, created in partnership with recent “Young Designer of the Year” award-winner Nick Mezas in The Hague, is meant to attract younger buyers who want a smaller yacht than Moonen typically builds, as well as one with a more contemporary look — which Moonen calls just plain “cool.”

Hull No. One will be a 78-footer with a Volvo IPS propulsion system and an estimated top speed of 22 knots. There will be four guest cabins onboard as well as an open layout in the gathering spaces, based on the assumption that each of the new designs will be owner-operated.
