New Princess V62-S Wows at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Boat Show

The Princess V62-S is a sleek express cruiser with a massive cockpit geared for entertaining.

Walking Collins Avenue at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show for the day will wear holes through the soles of your Sperrys. It was at the tail end of such a day this week that I shuffled up to the brand-new Princess V62-S, complete with an oversized and inviting aft sun pad. Drawing me in like a fly to a bug zapper, I couldn’t help but step aboard this sleek express cruiser, if only just to take a quick look. Instantly, I noticed countless other attractive features that pulled me in further.

There was the massive cockpit geared for entertaining. The V62’s portside seating here boasts room for six adults around the table, which sits across from the wet bar and grill, keeping the chef in the conversation. A push of a button summons an electronic awning to keep everyone shaded from sun or weather. This spacious salon, which is accessed via sliding-glass doors, welcomed me just beyond the alfresco party space where C-shape seating to port was the perfect height for seeing out the panoramic windows. There is a retractable TV across from it.

Her forward raked windows seemed to offer great sightlines from the starboard-side helm, just forward of that salon. And down a few steps, the galley-down is bathed in light from those windows. It has an atrium feel.

This 62 was equipped with three staterooms and two heads, which make her ideal for the cruising family. Her master is full-beam, complete with settee, ensuite head and vanity. There’s also a step-up berth in the forepeak VIP with access to the second head, while the third stateroom, equipped with side-by-side berths, lies just abaft and to starboard of the VIP.

My time aboard the Princess V62-S ended too soon and my march through the boat show continued. But as I left her I was filled with the thought of breaking her out of the show, shooting across Biscayne Bay and off Bimini, which she was born to do and was exactly what was needed to put the pep back in my step.
