MTN unveiled a flat-panel satellite antenna for the superyacht market at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show.
The flat-panel technology is part of a broadband satellite package that includes MTN’s global Ku-band VSAT network. The flat-panel antennas can be embedded beneath a yacht’s skin with a custom radome to match the yacht’s aesthetic design, eliminating the need for larger dish antennas.
“We have been researching and evaluating flat-panel phased-array technologies for some time now,” Abel Avellan, president and chief strategy officer of MTN parent company Global Eagle Entertainment, stated in a press release. “Superyacht builders and owners no longer have to wait for flat-panel technology to arrive. It’s here now and ready to deploy.”
