For adventurous couples interested in the cruising lifestyle, the MJM Yachts 40z is a vessel worth considering. The yacht’s forepeak stateroom has an island berth for weekend or extended voyages. There is a galley down to port, and a dinette with opposing settees to starboard.
The 40z has a single-level deck that runs from the cockpit to the helm station. With 370 hp Volvo Penta IPS500s, the vessel burns 23 gallons per hour at 27 knots. At press time, there were seven MJM 40z models available, ranging from $575,000 to $799,000.

“Response to steering input is immediate and accurate, and maneuvering in close quarters is as free of drama as you can get. … To further reduce the pains of docking or anchoring, the spring cleat on the starboard side is within easy reach of the helm, so one can lasso the cleat on the float without leaving the house. Want to anchor? Pushing a button at the helm deploys the ground tackle without any other human intervention.”
