Palm Beach Motor Yachts has introduced the new GT50 RS, a 50-foot performance cruiser that brings the builder’s V-Warp hull technology and luxury-yacht finish to the outboard-powered segment.
Powered by four Mercury Racing 500R V-8 outboards producing a combined 2,000 horsepower, the GT50 RS reportedly reaches a top speed of 50 knots according to the builder. The yacht was developed in response to a client request for a high-speed commuter capable of making regular passages between Connecticut and Long Island while maintaining comfort in varying sea conditions.
Large opening side windows and a retractable sunroof are intended to create an open-air helm experience, while an enclosed salon allows owners to cruise in climate-controlled comfort when desired.
Belowdecks, Palm Beach combines contemporary materials such as carbon-fiber accents and Alcantara upholstery with the company’s traditional high-gloss teak joinery. Accommodations include a forward stateroom with a king-size berth, a feature not commonly found aboard high-performance outboard-powered yachts.
The GT50 RS is built using Palm Beach’s proprietary V-Warp Technology, which incorporates carbon fiber, E-glass and vinylester construction with a fully infused monocoque structure. The builder says the lightweight approach enhances efficiency, stability and overall performance at speed.
Founded in 1995 by ocean-racing champion Mark Richards, Palm Beach Motor Yachts has built its reputation on lightweight composite construction and fuel-efficient hull forms. The company is part of Grand Banks Yachts and offers models across its Classic, GT and GT RS series.
The GT50 RS is the first model in the new RS range, with larger GT60 RS and GT70 RS models already under construction
