Split-Screen Made Simple

New feature will let boaters see sonar and charts in the same mobile app.

Navionics Boating app upgrade

Boaters can now see sonar and charts at once in either full-screen or split-screen mode on iPhones and iPads.

Navionics Boating, the top-ranking app from Navionics, will now allow boaters to see sonar and charts at once in either full-screen or split-screen mode on iPhones and iPads.

The update is made possible by a partnership between Navionics and Vexilar SonarPhone to evolve the existing technology. The iTunes App Store should have the update available in mid-August for any existing Navionics Boating, Marine or Marine & Lakes app. An Android SonarPhone update will be released at a later date.
For the app update to work, it must receive data from a SonarPhone T-BOX WiFi transmitter, which is purchased separately.

“As we embrace wireless technology, our partnership with Vexilar creates a wow factor by connecting sonar with charts on handheld devices like iPhones and iPads at a very low cost,” Don Black, Navionics senior vice president of global sales and marketing, stated in a press release. “We are offering more and more ways to provide the greatest benefit for all so that any user can improve charts anywhere they want more detail, anytime they choose.”
