Go anywhere—literally. Numarine’s 40MXP has transatlantic range and then some. It’s a superyacht with an adventurous soul.
This 129-foot vessel has a displacement hull form constructed in steel with a composite superstructure, a setup that provides bluewater capability and reduces top weight. Most of the 40MXP is built in-house, from metal fabrication to joinery to upholstery, allowing a high level of quality control as well.
The build also lends itself to admirable performance and that extended range. Standard power is a pair of 800 hp MAN diesels. The 40MXP reportedly maxes out at 14 knots with a 12-knot cruising speed. At 8 knots, range is reportedly 6,000 nautical miles.
Those should be near-whisper-quiet miles too. Numarine invests measurable time and technology into sound attenuation, from insulation to floating a vessel’s soles and more. The builder says decibel readings on its yachts drop into the low-20 range, which is a hair above a whisper and nearly 40-plus decibels below normal conversation levels. The 40MXP has strong, muscular lines and carries a fair bit of its 26-foot-3-inch beam forward, enhancing overall volume. The ultra-high freeboard adds to its shippy profile. Gross tonnage is 365.
The extensive use of structural glass in the superstructure and skylounge aims to visually lower the profile and lean out the look. It’s more athletic, less pure muscle.
The XP in MXP stands for explorer, and the M stands for Mediterranean, ensuring that relaxation, luxury and livability are found at every turn on board. For example, if the main-deck pool aft gets crowded, guests can use the one on the top deck. Forward of the main deck pool is shaded dining for 10. The 40MXP’s salon sliding doors are set farther forward than on the 37MXP, increasing al fresco real estate. The upper deck has lounges, sun pads, dining for eight, a barbecue and a bar. The salon is open, with sole-to-ceiling glass and low-back furniture, creating a seemingly infinite stretch of space.
Rugged and tough, sure. Laid back and luxurious, also true. The Numarine 40MXP could be a solid choice for owners who don’t want to choose. They get it all.
