Cheoy Lee will debut its 130 Explorer at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and announce its new Discovery Series of superyachts.
The steel-hulled 130 Explorer has a fast-displacement hull form from Overing Yacht Design. It’s powered by twin 2,100 hp Caterpillar C18 diesels, with a reported top speed of 13 knots and a maximum range of 4,200 nautical miles at 10 knots. The yacht recently returned from an extended cruise with its owner.
The 130 Explorer has a 28-foot beam and accommodates 10 guests across five staterooms, including a main-deck owner’s suite. Four guest staterooms are belowdecks and there’s also room for six crew.
This four-deck vessel’s top deck offers alfresco dining under a hardtop. Bird’s-eye view included. Below, the skylounge opens to an aft deck that can be used for tender stowage.
According to Cheoy Lee Shipyards Executive Director B.Y. Lo, the 130 Explorer “truly showcases the modern yachtbuilding capability of our family shipyard.”
In addition to the Explorer 130, the builder is announcing its Discovery Series. The range, which includes 115-, 120- and 127-foot models, was developed in collaboration with Nick Boksa of Boksa Marine Design.

“The Discovery Series draws on everything we know about building seaworthy global cruisers and hardy, reliable commercial vessels and workboats, and combines it all into an elegant, contemporary, ocean-going yacht that delivers luxurious world cruising without compromise on facilities or service,” stated Lo in a press release.
Boksa also has extensive experience designing for both the commercial and luxury-yacht sectors.
The builder notes that the Discovery Series yachts are distinguished by their commercial-grade systems and equipment, and by their robust construction for bluewater cruising.
“Their high-volume layouts feature the same level of styling and luxury amenities typical of a larger explorer yacht—from the bridge-deck master suite on the Discovery 115 to the spacious beach club on the Discovery 120, to the generous sundeck complete with bar, grill, spa tub, and multiple seating areas on the Discovery 127,” the builder stated.
Visitors can see the Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer, as well as CL Yachts’ composite models, the CLB72 and CLB65, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from October 29 to November 2.
