Italian builder Benetti Yachts is preparing to unveil Cheers 46 at the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. She is a Veloce 140, the first yacht in Benetti’s fast-displacement series.

Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture Studio, working with the Azimut-Benetti Research and Development Center, designed the hull, which Benetti calls D2P (displacement to planing). It has an energy-efficient cruise speed of 12 knots as well as a top speed of more than 20 knots, according to the builder. The twin 3,500-mhp MTU 12V 4000 M93L engines are the largest ever installed at Benetti’s shipyard in Viareggio. Fin stabilizers are by CMC Marine.

A Brazilian owner who has owned other Azimut-Benetti models commissioned Hull No. 1 of the Veloce 140. Exterior styling is by Stefano Righini, with interior design by Britain’s Redman Whiteley Dixon and the owner’s personal consultant. Both interior and exterior décor are by architect Joao Armentano, who used light-gray and slate-gray woodwork along with silver-lacquer decorative accents and white-lacquer ceilings.
