ACR Electronics has launched a website to inform and update boaters about a new mandate from the U.S. Coast Guard regarding the Automatic Identification System (AIS).

The website helps recreational boat owners understand the basics of AIS, various products that are available and how to make sure yachts are in compliance with the mandate, whose enforcement is scheduled to start in March 2016.

Questions that the site answers include whether certain yachts need Class A or Class B AIS devices to operate legally in U.S. waters. Most yacht owners who are affected will need a Class B device. Other yacht owners can install AIS devices to improve on-water safety, even without the U.S. Coast Guard mandate.

The ACR Electronics website site also has answers to frequently asked questions, informational graphics, AIS installation advice and a news section about the latest AIS developments worldwide.

ACR’s newest AIS offerings: the AISLink CA1 and AISLink CB1.
