Want $10,000?

BoatUS is offering grants for grass-roots projects that encourage safe, clean boating.

The BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water is offering $10,000 grants for grass-roots projects that encourage its goals.

Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2014, and public online voting will take place this spring. So far, the foundation’s grants program has awarded more than $1.3 million in local boating safety and clean water projects.

“While the program is still for small local groups, organizations and nonprofits, we’re getting away from awarding funds for traditional signs, brochures or boat-show giveaway items,” Outreach Manager Alanna Keating stated in a press release. “Now, we’re looking to tap into the many exciting interactive and innovative ways to encourage behavior changes, including social media, the web or unique hands-on activities.”
