Video: Iguana Amphibious Tender

For those who loathe waiting in line at the boat ramp, the Iguana may stop the pain. This tender-meets-day-boat ($28,000) is one of the latest species of amphibious yachts to crawl onto the market. Video of dycqXBHyE6M

Retractable, hydraulic, rubber-tank-style tracks allow the Iguana to maneuver on various terrains at speeds of 5 mph. Drive the 28-foot hybrid into the water, and at the push of a button the tracks fold into the under carriage to form a solid hull. A wave-piercing bow and standard 40 hp outboard give her a top speed north of 40 knots. Since this model’s debut just over a year ago, Iguana has added two more to its arsenal, the Hype and the Exclusive. The 23-foot Hype comes with brightly colored hull and upholstery that makes it seem more like a water toy than a tender. The Exclusive boasts gold-plated stairs, cleats, rails and table, plus leather upholstery and high-gloss teak trim.
