The Turkish builder Turquoise Yachts is currently constructing Tala, a 174-foot mega yacht with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. The yacht’s exterior is reportedly finished, and the builder is now focusing on the vessel’s luxurious interior. Both the interior and exterior designs are being handled by DeBasto Design, a Miami-based agency that is well respected in the marine industry.

Tala will be notable for her volume, indeed she displaces a hefty 700 gross tons. As such, her guests will enjoy interior volume that is expansive for a yacht this size. Her entertainment spaces are designed for groups both large and small, incorporating a feng shui that as Luiz DeBasto puts it, makes sure “no one will feel lost.” Her sun deck in particular should be quite a popular place to hang out, with its multiple sunpads, television, wetbar, barbecue, Jacuzzi, and more.

One potential drawback to the yacht’s voluminous interior was that she risked looking a little bit, shall we say, plump, on the outside. But DeBasto had an answer for that. “”With Tala‘s enormous volume … my objective was to make the exterior less bulky and give a feeling of a forward dynamic movement, rather than a static feel,” he said in a press release. “I wanted the design to show movement and purpose from any angle. I achieved this with the long ascending line from the swim platform all the way up to the mast and down to the pilothouse windshield.”

Speaking of that swim platform, it’s designed for easily launching tenders, and also is part of a beach club that features a sauna and gym.

The yacht’s interior was designed by DeBasto’s wife, Cristina, who focused on juxtapositions between elegance and comfort, and light and dark color schemes.

Keep an eye out for Tala as she should be delivered in 2020 if all goes according to plan.
