Superyachts for Auction at Antibes Yacht Show

Bid is $30 Million. Do I hear $35? There's no telling what the first live auction will bring at the Antibes Yacht Show.

When the 2013 Antibes Yacht Show opens on April 18, attendees won’t be looking only at yachts for sale through builders and brokerage companies on the docks. They’ll also have a chance to peruse at least two yachts that will go up for live auction: the 182-foot Proteksan-Turquoise Turquoise and the 100-foot Heesen Matanthar.

Show organizers say this will be the first time that any boat show has ever offered a live auction. It will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the VIP lounge on the Quai Des Milliardaires.

For anyone who is on the French Riviera but unable to attend the auction in person, it will be broadcast live to the Star Deck bar overlooking the harbor in Monaco, where bids also will be accepted.

The auction will be conducted by Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr, who, as auctioneering circles go, is among the most famous in France. He even has his own Wikipedia page.

Turquoise is a 2011 build listed publicly with an asking price of $31.5 million. Matanthar is a 2000 build that was refitted in 2008. She is listed publicly with an asking price of €3.75 million.

Further information about Turquoise, Matanthar and any other yachts that become part of the auction is available by e-mailing info@yacht-show-auction.com.
