Pied-a-Mer

Gallery One offers a spot for dreams.

In the popular fantasy, a second home for a boater means a private island or creek-side hideaway miles from anywhere, with only the hum of mosquitoes to accompany cello solos in the gazebo. Well, our fantasy has more pep in it: a vacation home in a vibrant setting, near the water, that’s close to a full range of outdoor recreation, fine shopping and entertainment opportunities.

Not to mention that it’s in Ft. Lauderdale, which is why Gallery One fits our notion of a fantasy very nicely. Located on the Intracoastal Waterway at 2670 East Sunrise Boulevard, Gallery One is a 13-story former luxury hotel that is being converted into a top-flight condominium resort. Next door to the Galleria Mall (Saks Fifth Avenue, Nieman-Marcus) and just four miles from the numerous dining, gallery and retail attractions of Las Olas Boulevard, Gallery One offers its residents a vital and varied lifestyle.

Two models are currently available for your inspection, one- and two-bedroom suites, and they are typical of the contemporary approach planned for each resort residence. Contemporary artwork, European-style cabinetry, marble floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and flat-screen televisions are combined to create a rich living environment. Textured fabrics and upholsteries in calming, neutral tones complement sleek, dark wood furniture and brushed stainless steel hardware throughout. Bedrooms blend soft, padded headboards and exquisite earth-tone bedding to create a serene retreat.

“Big city art galleries were our inspiration for Gallery One’s urban, subtropical design,” said Rick Watson of Howard Design Group, the interior designers behind the multimillion-dollar renovation. “Meticulous yet creative landscaping will envelop the entrance, colorful modern art will abound and crisp, white umbrellas will decorate Gallery One’s Intracoastal beach.”

Owners and their guests will have access to a full complement of resort amenities when they are in residence, and the advantage of renting their units when they are away. Upon arrival, they will find covered parking and a beautifully designed lobby and reception area. There will be an attendant at the front desk 24 hours a day to receive them, plus 24-hour valet service. Daily maid and housekeeping service will be available, as well.

A restaurant and cocktail bar with indoor and outdoor dining areas will appeal to a wide range of dining and entertainment plans, and room service will be available for private dining. Food and beverage service will be available outdoors to serve residents and guests enjoying the heated swimming pool and whirlpool that overlook the Intracoastal Waterway. And when it’s time to balance caloric intake with exercise, there’s a state-of-the-art fitness and cardiovascular center.
