New Names, New Venues

No, you’re not confused. Things look a lot different this year as two of America’s biggest annual boat shows prepare to kick off in Miami.

First, there’s a whole new venue for the Miami International Boat Show, which had to move from the Miami Beach Convention Center because of construction. The boat show will now take place on Virginia Key, at Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin. A whole new facility has been built from the marina on up, everything from eco-friendly docks to waterfront restaurants. The show will have more in-water yachts than ever, plus advance parking and ticket purchases that you can buy online before you leave your home or hotel.

Second, the longtime Yacht & Brokerage Show held on Collins Avenue has a new name: Yachts Miami Beach. That show will remain in the same location, but it is adding a second venue called Superyacht Miami for yachts up to 500 feet in length that can’t fit at the original venue. They will instead be on display at Island Gardens Deep Harbour on Watson Island, with shuttles running between there and Collins Avenue.

The only show venue that looks the same as last year is Strictly Sail, which will once again be at Miamarina Bayside. Same name, same look — but new yachts, of course, plus shuttle service to and from the new Miami International Boat Show venue.

Can’t make it to Miami? That’s okay. Our editors will be scouring all the venues for the latest news, which you can find at our Miami Show Online Hub.
