New Boats

Check out these new boats from a trio of builders.

Kadey-Krogen Yachts is set to debut their new Krogen 48 AE, the successor to the popular Krogen 48 North Sea, at Trawler Fest in Fort Lauderdale January 27 – 29. The 48 AE has an abundance of outdoor living space, with the fully covered aft deck characteristic of Krogen yachts, and a flying bridge large enough to accommodate a 13-foot tender as well as an outdoor “summer kitchen.” Owners have the option of a two or three stateroom layout, with the master cabin forward to take advantage of light and ventilation. A desk comes standard in the guest cabin, located to starboard, allowing it to also serve as an office. A single 201-hp John Deere engine powers the 48 AE, and at 7 knots she has a cruising range north of 3,000 miles. www.kadeykrogen.com

Wider boats, founded by Tilli Antonelli (the original founder of Pershing), has released a concept for its very first model — a 42-foot open day cruiser. Twin 370-horsepower engines and Arneson surface drives will give the Wider 42 a company-estimated top speed of 45 knots and a 350-mile cruise range at 40 knots. But this vessel will really turn heads when Antonelli’s patented expanding sidedecks are activated. Extensions from either side of the hull widen to provide nearly double the amount of deck space. www.wider-y.it

Viking Sport Cruisers will display the new Princess 72 Motor Yacht at the 2011 Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show, February 17 – 21. The 72 features a large flying bridge with good lines of sight from the helm, and a wet bar, sink, grill and table, making it a great place for afternoon cocktails or alfresco dining. Inside, large windows bathe the salon in an abundance of natural light. The 72 sports the deep-V hull and resin-infused construction characteristic of vessels in the Princess line. Standard power for the 72 is twin 1,625-horsepower CAT C32A diesels. www.vikingsportcruisers.com
