New Boats

These are some of the latest yacht launches.

Island Pilot, perhaps best known for their eco-friendly DSe Hybrid 12 meter, has announced the construction of their new IP535. With an LOA of 57 feet, this is the largest Island Pilot to date. The IP535 will have Volvo IPS900 drives, powered by two 700-horespower D-11 diesel engines, to provide a top speed of 33 knots, according to the builder. At this writing, two IP535s have been ordered—one will belong to a new buyer, and one is being built for a current Island Pilot owner who is moving up in size. www.islandpilot.com

Sanlorenzo recently splashed the 40-meter Princess Claudia into the waters at their Viareggio Shipyard. An all-aluminum, planing-hull motoryacht, Princess Claudia is the 4th hull in their 40 Alloy line. www.sanlorenzoyacht.com

Sunreef Yachts launched their largest yacht to-date with Ipharra, the new Sunreef 102 double deck yacht. Hull number one of their 102 series is the company’s first foray into the world of superyachts. www.sunreef-yacht.com

Nordhavn announced plans to build a 78-foot long-range motoryacht. The 78 will combine Nordhavn’s seaworthy hull with European styling. The company hopes that the new design will attract buyers that like the ocean-going features of Nordhavn yachts, but don’t care for their utilitarian style. The 78 will feature twin Cummins QSM11DM-425 engines, and the company estimates that she will have an ocean-crossing range of more than 3,000 nautical miles. www.nordhavn.com
