Lowrance Elite-9 CHIRP
Lowrance has launched new and enhanced versions of several fishfinders and displays. The Elite-4 CHIRP and Mark-4 CHIRP displays offer additional features, the Elite-9 CHIRP display has increased viewability, there’s a new Elite-3x DSI color fishfinder and the HDS Gen3 has been redesigned.
The Elite-4 CHIRP and Mark-4 CHIRP now combine CHIRP sonar with DownScan Imaging, advanced signal processing, TrackBack and a built-in GPS. The Elite version has a color screen while the Mark edition has a grayscale screen, both 4.3 inches wide.
“Launching the Mark-4 and Elite-4 CHIRP series represents a key milestone for Lowrance,” Navico CEO Leif Ottosson stated in a press release. “With this launch, all of the products in our standalone Elite series — from 9- to 4-inch display sizes — now have the benefit of CHIRP sonar technology.”
The Elite-9 CHIRP, whose 9-inch-wide screen is the largest display in the Elite lineup, has been outfitted with a SolarMAX Plus display for better viewability, especially in sunlight. The larger, widescreen format is designed to display two user-selected ranges simultaneously.
The new Elite-3x DSI comes in a DownScan Imaging model and is being marketed as an affordable option, with a retail price of $129. It offers an LED-backlit color display, dedicated quick keys, a swivel mounting bracket and more.
With the redesign of the HDS Gen3, Lowrance is offering multitouch and keypad operation, enhanced processing speed, scrolling menus and more that provide a user experience similar to that of a smartphone or tablet. StructureScan HD and DownScan Imaging are standard features, along with CHIRP sonar, wireless connectivity and connection with mobile devices using the GoFree App.
“Not only does HDS offer today’s most advanced fishfinder technologies, the collection of optional mapping solutions and performance modules cannot be surpassed by any fishfinder/chart plotter in the industry,” Ottosson stated.
