West Marine plans to begin accepting applications for its next round of BlueFuture grants on September 1, with the deadline for submission on October 1.

Nonprofit, youth-focused, community-based organizations can win the $1,500 grants for teaching powerboating or boatbuilding skills, fostering aquatic sustainability or conservation, and more. “We’re dedicated to giving back to communities across the country through our BlueFuture initiative,” Deb Radcliff, West Marine’s senior vice president of marketing, stated in a press release. “It’s important to us that we’re able to help local nonprofits give more young people access to the water.”

West Marine created the BlueFuture fund in 2015. Three annual in-store fundraisers support the effort during National Safe Boating Week in May, World Oceans Day in June and the Month of Giving in December.
